repeaterDS - stuttering sample player for the DS
Posted on June 11th, 2008 9 commentsrepeaterDS is a free music application for the Nintendo DS that allows you to “play” a sample by drawing on the DS screen. The vertical axis controls repeat length. The horizontal axis controls the playback offset into the sample.
Download repeaterDS here. Read the documentation.
Features include:
- Control repeat length and offset using the stylus
- Record and playback your gestures to create repeating stuttering noise
- Shift your recorded gestures in realtime to create evolving patterns
- Load in your own sounds
- BPM settings
Check out these video demos:
If anyone could contribute sample packs for this new application, it would be much appreciated.

Great new App, the one thing I think that must be done with repeaterDS and glitchDS is they should have a file browser, so that you can search your card for sounds, instead of the sound files being fixed in one location (i.e. “repeaterDS/sounds” and “glitchDS/sounds”). The reason I say this is, what if you want to use sound files from the glitchDS folder in the repeaterDS App? You’ll have to copy those files from the glitchDS sounds folder to the repeaterDS sounds folder, therefore duplicating the wanted files. For someone with limited space on their card, this method doesn’t help much. A shared “sounds” folder for both Apps would be alright, but yet again would be a fixed location on the card. Now, a shared “sounds” folder for both Apps and it’s location determined by the user inside an “.ini” file (that can be read from any location on the card) would be the best solution, I’m sure others will agree. Anyway, keep up the excellent work!

(or words to that effect…)

Hi mates - what a great idea. Is its possible that i can trigger the DS with the Glitch with an Midiapplication? Is it possible to synchro two DS one with Glitch and one with Repeater to play together? Or are this features will come in the future?
Peace Manfred

intraded, make sure that the repeaterDS is installed on the root of the cart. Make sure the folder name is “repeaterDS” without any other characters. Let me know how it turns out!
