Alexander, from music supporter magazine, mentioned that Switch Sound File Converter does a great job of converting .wav files to .raw files for use in glitchDS and repeaterDS. I tested it out and he’s right!
The output format should be:
Format: 8 bit signed
Sample Rate: 22050
Channels: Mono

does it really have to be mono ? I thought I’d hear stereo samples in the original set…
I converted my .wav files using those specs, they play really high-pitched (faster maybe?) when I play them in glitchDS.
Any ideas?
Biff,
Check to make sure that your sample rate is 22050. Let me know if that doesn’t work. Maybe I quoted the wrong sample rate?
Yeah…it still doesn’t seem to work.
Tried one sample rate above and below 22050…still no luck.
Here is the desired .wav i’m trying to convert.
Yeah, I’m experiencing the same problem over here. Batch conversion is so much more convinient though, so I hope I’ll get it to work.
I had the same problem with a bunch of my samples, when converted to 22khz mono RAW, they’re high pitched too…
I’ll try other options later.
try audacity - free open src audio program. it can import raw no problem

Jff
I tried with 22khz stereo raw files, and it’s indeed far better :).
So, convert to stereo and not mono files and everything should work…
Why should you have to convert to stereo???
I’ve found that properly preparing the wave file before converting to the .raw makes all the difference. For me anyways.
per request.
This is are the properties of the wave files I prepare using audacity before converting to .raw via sox.
Size 72 KB (100% of original, .9 to 1 compression)
Original Size 72 KB
Length 416 mili-seconds
Channels 2 (stereo)
Sample Rate 44.1 KHz;
Sample Size 16 bit
Bit Rate 1,411 kbps
Encoder
Encoder Settings PCM
Audio Quality CD (Lossless)
Contains
Channel Mapping Left, Right
File knock06.24.2008
Type WAVE Audio File [.wav]
then i convert the file using sox as recommended. I have the switch file converter and have had no luck.
hi, is there any chance to make glitchDS and repeaterDS using .WAV files in the future. That would make things a lot easier for all of us, i guess …
Thanks, Tom
